When It Comes to Performance…Chiropractic Delivers Like Nothing Else!
Jordan Spieth recently won the 2015 Masters Championship. The 21 year-old phenom thanked his caddy, coach…and Chiropractor! Given the stage at golf’s most prestigious championship podium, Spieth acknowledged that Chiropractic was essential to his every day performance.
Years ago after my wife first began getting regular Chiropractic adjustments, her marathon time decreased by over 15 minutes. She set a new personal record of 3 hours and 16 minutes for running 26.2 miles. That’s a 16 minute improvement!
The research on Chiropractic is very profound and proves that performance is a key benefit.
Chiropractic adjustments deliver results that no other pill, potion, lotion, or therapy can provide. A study in 2011 showed that Chiropractic increases Adenosine triphosphate (ATP), a pre-cursor for energy in the body.
Higher levels of oxygen in the blood and tissues help increase healing and recovery, another proven benefit from a specific Chiropractic adjustment.
A patient began bringing her two year old son into our office for Chiropractic care. The boy had been diagnosed as autistic and the previous year of his mom’s life had been a living hell. She told me that she found herself resenting her son because of his health and behavior. After just two months of c
are, she pulled me aside with tears in her eyes to say that her son’s behavior and health had improved so much, she felt the hardness and hurt inside herself transforming back into the love of a mother. Some of us cannot even fathom the idea that we could not love our children as God intended. But this is a reality for many parents and guardians.
Everyone from babies and parents to runners and golfers can experience the improved quality of life and performance that Chiropractic gives.
The research continues to prove what all people need to know: Chiropractic delivers.
Where’s the evidence to demonstrate the neurophysiological effects of the manipulation? Has this research been appraised for quality? Don’t get me wrong, I completely believe in the adjustment, but I was wondering where this claim for increased performance comes from, when the evidence clearly states that the affect of manipulation on performance can not be commented on. There is no cause and effect relationship that can be consistently proved. In fact, parasympathetic predominance predisposes us to a decrease in performance because we lose sympathetic neural tone, which is a requirement of athletic performance in higher stress situations. When performance increases really matter. “Show me the researchhhhh!” – Jerry McChiropractor
Dan-Great question. There absolutely is evidence to support a cause and effect relationship with an adjustment and improved human performance! I would have you look at the 2007 study from the Journal of Neurophysiology done by Heidi Haavik, DC PhD. Also the Ogura study in 2011. They are both in the free report I have for anyone to download online. I also had the opportunity to work with and adjust the USA wrestling team at 2 World Championships and 1 Olympic Games from 2010-2012. Elite athletes do not want to be in sympathetic dominance. In fact, many elite athletes attempt to train their body to get in as calm as state as possible so they have better control over heart rate, respiration, etc. If you look at the 2009 PJ Fitzgerald study out of Johns Hopkins (also in report) you will also see that an increase in the stress hormone norepinephrine is linked to almost all chronic disease physiology. That hormone increases in a sympathetic dominant state, which vertebral subluxation interference creates in the body. I appreciate your comments because I’m sure others had the same questions. Keep changing lives with Chiropractic! Blessings, Dr Sullivan
